The holidays are quickly approaching and I invite you to reflect on what is on your plate this Thanksgiving. It can be easy to have expectations to keep everything on your plate that has been there previously. But consider the effects your plate has had on you and your loved ones. Perhaps you have committed to more than you are able to handle. Your plate is overflowing because you are trying to force everything on it because it is essential. Or maybe you look at your plate and don’t see anything you want on it because of life’s unexpected changes.
Consider the following questions before you start making commitments:
What are the top three priorities this Thanksgiving and why?
How might tradition be limiting your ability to have more freedom this holiday season?
Think about what ways you want to create differently this year?
How can you embody both the familiarity of fond memories and the newness of this particular year?
Reflect on your traditions thoughtfully this season.
Wishing you all a beautiful Thanksgiving!
